Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Seamstress to join the team. The ideal candidate will have experience in custom dressmaking or apparel sewing and alterations. This role requires patience, empathy, and a strong focus on providing excellent customer service to brides and clients.
Our client specializes in creating custom wedding dresses and providing expert alterations. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer experiences.
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday (Closed Sunday & Monday) - Somewhat flexible, however, main hours will be 8a-5p
Pay: $20–$25/hr DOE (higher pay possible for highly experienced candidates)
Key Responsibilities:

Sew, alter, and repair custom wedding dresses and other apparel

Work directly with clients to understand their needs and provide guidance on fit, style, and alterations

Ensure high-quality workmanship and attention to detail on every garment

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Collaborate with the team to meet client deadlines and expectations

Job Requirements
Qualifications:

Direct experience with wedding dresses, formal wear, or alterations; general seamstress or apparel sewing experience also considered

Patient, empathetic, and helpful, with excellent customer service skills

Proficiency with industrial sewing machines, sergers, and specialty sewing equipment

Experience with hand-sewing techniques (e.g., hemming, beading, appliqué, boning, and lining)

Knowledge of fabric types and their properties, including silk, satin, tulle, chiffon, lace, organza, and stretch fabrics

Ability to read and interpret sewing patterns, technical drawings, and garment specifications

Skills in measuring, fitting, and adjusting garments to achieve precise fit and structure

Experience with garment construction techniques such as pleating, darting, gathering, draping, and paneling

Familiarity with pressing, steaming, and finishing techniques to ensure a professional look

Ability to perform detailed alterations such as resizing, taking in/out seams, adjusting necklines, and modifying sleeves

Understanding of couture techniques and embellishments (optional, but highly valuable)

Knowledge of proper garment care and handling during alterations or fittings
