Job Description
We are currently seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to join an Outpatient Clinic in South Tulsa.
Hours: Monday & Wednesday (7am - 6pm), Tuesday & Thursday (9am - 6pm), & Friday (7am - 11am).
Pay: $50k+ DOE
Responsibilities:
- Assist the licensed Physical Therapist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Conduct therapeutic exercises and activities with patients to improve strength, range of motion, balance, and coordination.
- Assist with the application of modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and traction.
- Provide hands-on manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilizations, soft tissue mobilizations, and massage.
- Instruct and educate patients on proper body mechanics, exercises, and activities to promote functional independence and prevent future injuries.
- Monitor and document patient progress, including tracking improvements, setbacks, and changes in condition.
- Collaborate with the therapy team to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care.
- Set up and prepare treatment areas, including cleaning and organizing equipment and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
- Assist with the fitting and use of orthotic devices, prostheses, and assistive devices.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation process.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in physical therapy techniques, evidence-based practices, and regulatory changes.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to clinic policies and procedures, including maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Job Requirements
Requirements:
- Education and Licensure: Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program and possession of a valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology: Understanding of the human body's musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiovascular systems, as well as their interactions and functions.
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in conducting therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and various modalities under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to explain treatment plans and instructions clearly.
- Physical Fitness: Physical stamina and strength to assist patients in their therapeutic exercises, transfers, and mobility training. Ability to stand, bend, and lift as needed.
- Empathy and Compassion: Ability to demonstrate empathy and provide emotional support to patients who may be experiencing pain, discomfort, or emotional challenges.
- Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess patients' needs, develop appropriate treatment plans, and make adjustments based on patient progress or setbacks.
- Time Management and Organization: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient cases, maintain accurate documentation, and adhere to schedules and deadlines.
- Professionalism and Ethics: Commitment to upholding professional ethics and maintaining patient confidentiality. Adherence to regulatory guidelines and standards of practice.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with the latest advancements in physical therapy techniques, evidence-based practices, and industry trends through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish rapport with patients, create a positive therapeutic environment, and effectively address any concerns or questions they may have.
