Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to join their engineering team in Tulsa. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation that support the design, manufacturing, and ongoing improvement of industrial equipment and machinery.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and cross-functional teams to bring designs from concept to production while ensuring accuracy, quality, and document control throughout the process.
Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 9-Hour Shifts | Friday | 4-Hour Shift
Pay: $27 – $34 per hour (DOE)
Position Overview
The Mechanical Drafter will provide CAD drafting and documentation support for mechanical systems, components, and specialized equipment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting engineering projects through detailed modeling, drawing creation, revision management, and manufacturing documentation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings
- Develop part, assembly, and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks
- Update and revise drawings based on engineering changes, manufacturing feedback, and field modifications
- Convert engineering sketches, concepts, and markups into complete drawing packages
- Support Mechanical Engineers with design modifications, layouts, and detailing
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting documentation
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards, engineering specifications, and drafting best practices
- Maintain revision control and accurate engineering documentation
- Assist manufacturing, production, procurement, and field service teams with drawing interpretation and clarification
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into documentation updates
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting standards, workflows, and document control
- Assist with engineering documentation audits and quality management requirements
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree, Technical Diploma, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 2–4 years of mechanical drafting experience preferred
- Proficiency with SolidWorks is required
- Strong CAD modeling and drafting capabilities
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience creating, managing, and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Working knowledge of drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and mechanical systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience supporting industrial equipment, machinery, automation systems, or manufacturing operations
- Experience working in engineering and fabrication environments
- Familiarity with quality management systems and controlled document environments
Work Environment
- Combination of office and manufacturing/shop environments
- Occasional exposure to industrial equipment and fabrication operations
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- PPE may be required during shop visits
