Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, self-motivated, and driven Laser Operator to join a well-established, family-oriented metal fabrication team. The company offers an easygoing, laid-back work environment, but employees are expected to take ownership of their work, stay productive, and take initiative without needing constant direction.
The Laser Operator will be responsible for loading material, running established laser programs, unloading finished parts, and cleaning and grinding parts as needed. This position will also operate a forklift and assist with occasional machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
Previous laser operating experience is preferred. Candidates with relevant machine operating, CNC, or metal fabrication experience and strong mechanical aptitude may also be considered.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Pay: $18–$22/hour DOE
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Operate and monitor laser cutting machines to cut metal sheets and parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Load raw material onto the laser and safely unload completed parts.
• Run established machine programs and monitor equipment throughout the cutting process.
• Clean and grind finished parts as needed to prepare them for the next stage of production.
• Perform quality checks to ensure finished parts meet required measurements, tolerances, and appearance standards.
• Organize and manage materials efficiently to minimize downtime and keep production moving.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic machine-related issues.
• Perform occasional routine machine maintenance.
• Safely operate a forklift to move raw materials and finished products.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work closely with welders, fabricators, assemblers, and other team members to keep production moving efficiently.
• Take initiative during downtime and assist with other shop or production needs.
• Follow all company safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
• Previous laser machine operating experience preferred.
• Manufacturing, CNC, machine operating, or metal fabrication experience is required.
• Must be self-motivated, driven, and able to stay productive without constant supervision.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, drawings, and production specifications.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Dependable, eager to work, and willing to help wherever needed.
• Ability to work well as part of a close-knit team.
