Job Description

Our client, a growing waste management company, is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment & Fleet Mechanic to join their maintenance team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of heavy-duty trucks and equipment that keep daily operations running smoothly.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanic who enjoys working on a variety of equipment and takes pride in keeping vehicles safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance.

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Pay: $20 – $30 per hour (DOE)

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues
  • Repair and maintain roll-off trucks, tractor trailers, front-end loaders, and other fleet equipment
  • Conduct inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
  • Replace and repair components such as brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, electrical systems, engines, and driveline components
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed
  • Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all company safety procedures and environmental regulations

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, fleet mechanic, or related role
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Experience working on heavy-duty trucks, tractor trailers, loaders, or similar equipment
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment safely
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs effectively
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Valid driver's license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • CDL is a plus but not required
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience in waste management, construction, transportation, or industrial equipment maintenance
  • Familiarity with DOT inspections and compliance requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy components
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment and moving machinery
