Job Description

We're looking for an experienced HVAC Journeyman Technician (Process Piping) to oversee the installation and maintenance of specialized piping systems used in geothermal, chiller, and cooling tower applications. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with mechanical piping experience, a strong background in geothermal systems, and the ability to lead a team in the field. The ideal candidate demonstrates craftsmanship, leadership, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and project execution. This position is physically demanding and requires working outdoors in varied conditions.
 
Schedule: 7:00a - 5:45p. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required. Start/end times may vary depending on the job site.
 
Pay: $25+/hr DOE

Key Responsibilities
 
  • Lead installation of horizontal and vertical geothermal ground loop systems
  • Perform pipefitting, fusion, and assembly of polyethylene piping in trenches or boreholes
  • Plan layouts, cut and bore holes, secure piping to structures, and connect systems
  • Operate trenchers, excavators, and fusion machines safely and effectively
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
  • Conduct pressure testing, system flushing, and performance inspections
  • Transport tools, equipment, and personnel to/from job sites
  • Supervise and train helpers; monitor performance and ensure safety compliance
  • Maintain vehicles, tools, and a clean job site
  • Complete necessary administrative documentation and submit reports
  • Deliver high-quality work that meets project specifications and customer expectation

Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • (1+) years of experience in the field working as a Journeyman HVAC Technician
  • Valid state Journeyman License
  • OSHA-10 Certification
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical schematics
  • Capable of earning equipment certifications as needed
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must pass background and drug screening
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and overnight as needed


Preferred Experience

  • (5+) years of industry experience
  • Technical training or trade school in HVAC, plumbing, or geothermal systems
  • IGSHPA Certification (International Ground Source Heat Pump Association)
  • OSHA-30 Certification
  • CDL License
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus


Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role involves working in residential, commercial, and institutional settings, including schools. The position requires exposure to various environmental conditions including heat, noise, and inclement weather. Applicants must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, perform physical labor for extended periods, and operate tools and machinery with precision. Proper use of PPE is mandatory at all times.
