Job Description
We are currently looking to fill a Fitter Welder position with a Tulsa company specializing in heat exchangers.
We are seeking a skilled Fitter Welder responsible for ensuring precise layout, cutting, positioning, and tack welding of heat exchanger parts. The successful candidate will have a strong grasp of various materials, ASME Code, and weld procedures.
Hours: 4:30pm-3:00am
Pay: $24-$29/hr DOE
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute accurate layout, cutting, positioning, and tack welding of heat exchanger components.
- Proficiency in calculating strap dimensions, diameters, radius, and irregular shapes to ensure precise fabrication.
- Apply extensive knowledge of ASME Code and weld procedures to maintain the highest quality standards.
- Set up and position parts on rolls, fixtures, or the floor while prioritizing the protection of gasket surfaces and other components.
- Identify diverse materials, including SA-516-70, 300 series stainless steels, 400 series stainless steels, low chromes, and specialty alloy plates and forgings.
- Interpret engineering drawings to determine appropriate weld size, type, and procedure, ensuring accurate execution.
- Utilize fabrication procedures and shop practices for all welding processes.
- Perform pre-heating of parts when necessary to meet welding requirements.
- Prepare proper weld bevels to ensure optimal weld quality.
- Maintain accountability for assigned welder's stamp and accurate identification of all welds.
- Manage the checkout and return of weld consumables from the tool room.
- Operate welding power sources with proficiency.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, demonstrating respect for workspace and equipment.
- Exercise care for tools and equipment, returning them to the tool room after completing tasks.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to report malfunctioning equipment and suggest improvements.
- Adhere to strict safety guidelines, consistently utilizing appropriate safety equipment and following safety procedures.
