Crew Leader - Commerical Landscaping
Job Description
Our client, a commercial landscaping company specializing in large-scale mowing and land maintenance, is seeking an experienced Crew Leader to oversee field operations and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable leading by example, working alongside their team in the field, and managing crews across large commercial properties and municipal contracts.
Schedule: Flexible (5x8s or 4x10s based on workload)
Pay: $20 – $25 per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview
The Crew Leader is responsible for coordinating daily work, directing crew members, and ensuring all assigned mowing and land maintenance projects are completed on time. This position requires strong leadership, accountability, and the ability to work independently in a field-based environment with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a crew performing large-scale mowing and land maintenance
- Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely
- Operate equipment as needed, including tractors and brushhog attachments
- Ensure crews are working safely, especially on roadside and sloped terrain
- Monitor productivity and quality of work across assigned job sites
- Communicate job expectations clearly and hold team members accountable
- Coordinate job site logistics and ensure crews report to the correct locations
- Identify and address performance or safety issues in the field
- Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance needs
- Maintain communication with management regarding progress and any issues
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, mowing, or outdoor field operations
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred
- Experience operating tractors and mowing equipment (brushhog experience strongly preferred)
- Ability to work on uneven and sloped terrain
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a crew with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license required
- Reliable transportation
